Here is a newspaper obituary for my grandfather, William F. Tyree (born October 8, 1872 an died December 18, 1939). I apologize for having his date of death wrong on the web site for the past two years.

Operation Ends in Death for William Tyree
- Dallas Oilman Began As Minister, Later Entered Law Practice

Death Monday morning brought to a halt the career of William F. Tyree, 67, of 3904 Rawlins, who in earlier years was a minister and attorney and who, at the time of his death, was active in the oil business.

Two bishops and the pastor of the First Methodist Church, of which he was a member, will conduct funeral services at 2 pm Wednesday at the church. These will be Bishop John M. Moore, Bishop H. A. Boaz, and Dr. W. Angie Smith. Burial will be in Restland Memorial Park.

Mr. Tyree was born in Wapella, Illinois, a distant relative of General Sam Houston. He became a preacher in 1897 at Charleston, W. Va., filled pulpits for a decade and then went to Oklahoma in 1908. There he practiced law until 1926.

In that year he moved to Dallas, entering the oil business, in which he was active until he succumbed at St. Paul's Hospital just a week after he had undergone an operation.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lilian Tyree; four sons, Woodson Tyree, Ponca City, Okla.; Houston Tyree, Lawn, Taylor County; William F. Tyree, Jr., and Andew Tyree of Dallas; two daughters, Miss Virginia Tyree, Dallas, and Mrs. Raymond F. Miller, San Antonio; two sisters, Mrs. Eunice Tyree Ryan, Washington, and Mrs. Warren D. Miller, Alameda, Calif.; and six grandchildren.
